In our series of 203 patients, 68% had excellent (over 90% improvement of the pain). Nearly 21% had good results (between 70-90% improvement of pain). The rest of the patients had partial to poor response. The majority of the poor responders were opioid-dependent, some had taken opioids for several years. Fifteen (15) patients had 1-3 recurrences.
Nearly 15% of the patients had recurrences. Some of the patients come back within 3 to 4 months, whereas some had recurrence after 3 to 5 years. Four patients had multiple recurrences.
Those patients who were proactive and started anti-inflammatory medications at the earliest symptoms did not require steroid injections for their recurrences. Recurrences are also prevented by rigidly following the physical therapy and core muscle exercises.
